Full-Stack Developer (Lead)
About the Role
Blue Monkfish Private Limited is building an AI-powered web application designed to help small law firms in the United States streamline client intake, document drafting, and client communication.
We are looking for an experienced Full-Stack Developer (Lead) who can take ownership of the technical development of the product end-to-end. This role will involve building the core web application, integrating AI/LLM capabilities, managing backend systems and databases, and supporting deployment and ongoing product improvements.
This is a high-ownership opportunity for a developer who is ready to take on leadership responsibilities and grow into a technical lead role as the product continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and maintain the core web application, including frontend dashboards, backend APIs, and database systems.
- Develop scalable and user-friendly web applications using modern full-stack technologies.
- Integrate AI/LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms for:
- Intake summarization
- Document drafting
- Client email generation
- Other AI-powered product features
- Implement secure user authentication and basic role-based access control.
- Develop and integrate Stripe billing and payment functionality.
- Design and implement approval workflows to ensure AI-generated content is reviewed before being shared with clients.
- Work with structured data, REST APIs, JSON, and third-party integrations.
- Deploy, maintain, and monitor applications on cloud platforms such as Vercel, Render, AWS, or similar services.
- Manage database structures and support basic multi-tenant application architecture.
- Guide, review, and support the work of junior developers on the team.
- Communicate directly with the founder regarding technical progress, challenges, priorities, and product requirements.
- Adapt development priorities and scope based on product feedback and business requirements.
- Follow best practices for coding, testing, version control, security, and application performance.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4–6 years of professional experience in full-stack web development.
- Strong experience with React or Next.js.
- Strong backend development experience with Node.js or Python.
- Experience with backend frameworks such as Express, FastAPI, or Flask.
- Good knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Understanding of database design and basic multi-tenant data structuring.
- Experience working with REST APIs and JSON/structured data.
- Strong understanding of Git and GitHub workflows.
- Basic experience with application deployment and cloud platforms.
- Good understanding of authentication, authorization, APIs, and third-party integrations.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical tasks.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with AI/LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms.
- Experience building AI-powered features or SaaS products.
- Experience with Stripe or other payment gateway integrations.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Vercel, or Render.
- Previous experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior developers.
- Experience working in a startup or fast-paced product environment.
