At LPL Financial, people leaders and frontline technologists alike play a critical role in shaping the employee and client experience. When our technology platforms are reliable, resilient, and well‑supported, everyone wins—our advisors, our clients, and our teams.
LPL Financial is seeking an Associate Engineer, Integrated Command Center (ICC) to join our Production Services organization. This role focuses on 24x7 eyes‑on‑glass monitoring, initial incident response, alert handling, and operational support for critical business platforms across cloud and on‑prem environments.
As an Associate Engineer, you will work alongside senior ICC engineers, SREs, and application/infrastructure teams to detect issues early, execute documented runbooks, escalate effectively, and support timely incident restoration. This position is well‑suited for early‑career engineers who are eager to build strong foundations in production operations, observability, and enterprise incident management.
-
Perform eyes‑on‑glass monitoring of production systems using Dynatrace and other enterprise monitoring tools.
-
Respond to alerts and system notifications following defined escalation policies and operational procedures.
-
Open, update, and manage incident tickets using ITSM tooling; ensure accurate documentation and timely communication.
-
Execute approved runbook and playbook steps during incidents and escalate to senior engineers or domain teams when issues exceed scope.
-
Assist in maintaining situational awareness during high‑severity incidents by tracking status, impact, and actions taken.
-
Support monitoring and alert hygiene by identifying noisy or non‑actionable alerts and escalating improvement opportunities.
-
Use existing dashboards and views to help identify impacted services and systems.
-
Assist in validating monitoring coverage for critical systems and environments.
-
Learn and apply basic observability concepts related to metrics, logs, and events.
-
Perform basic troubleshooting activities across AWS, Windows, and Linux environments using documented procedures.
-
Collect logs, metrics, and diagnostic data to support senior engineers during investigations.
-
Help identify patterns in recurring alerts or incidents and share findings with the ICC team.
-
Partner with application and infrastructure teams during issue escalation and resolution.
-
Participate in incident reviews and knowledge‑sharing sessions to build operational expertise.
-
Assist in maintaining and updating runbooks, contact lists, and support documentation.
-
Follow change management and operational standards to reduce risk to production systems.
-
Contribute to a culture of reliability, accountability, and continuous improvement.
-
Consistently follow monitoring and incident response procedures to support fast detection and escalation.
-
Improve personal technical and operational proficiency in NOC / ICC practices.
-
Reduce response delays through accurate triage, documentation, and handoffs.
-
Build foundational knowledge of LPL production platforms, tools, and support processes.
We’re looking for curious, dependable, and collaborative team members who thrive in fast‑paced operational environments and are motivated to learn. You value integrity, teamwork, and clear communication, and you take pride in keeping systems running reliably for clients and advisors.
-
3-5 years of experience in a NOC, Command Center, IT Operations, Production Support, or similar technical support role.
-
Basic understanding of ITSM concepts, including incident, problem, and change management.
-
Familiarity with monitoring tools (Dynatrace experience is a plus but not required).
-
Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems (services, logs, basic troubleshooting).
-
Introductory exposure to AWS or cloud environments is preferred.
-
Ability to remain calm, focused, and communicative during incidents.
-
Willingness to work rotational shifts or on‑call schedules, as required.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-
Attention to detail and operational discipline.
-
Strong willingness to learn and follow established processes.
-
Effective collaboration with senior engineers and cross‑functional teams.
-
Ability to document actions clearly and accurately.
-
Analytical mindset with interest in systems and problem solving.
-
Internship or coursework related to IT, Computer Science, or Engineering.
-
Exposure to financial services, FinTech, or regulated environments.
-
Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
