Job Summary
We are seeking a highly competent and patient-focused Medical Officer with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience to join our healthcare team. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering quality medical care, supporting oncology and chemotherapy services, maintaining accurate clinical documentation, and contributing to medical data management and quality initiatives. The ideal candidate should possess excellent clinical judgment, sound knowledge of chemotherapy protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment while ensuring compliance with medical, ethical, and regulatory standards.
Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with evidence-based clinical practices.
- Prescribe medications, diagnostic investigations, and therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical response.
- Attend to medical emergencies and provide immediate stabilization and life-saving interventions whenever required.
- Perform minor medical procedures within the scope of clinical practice.
- Coordinate admissions, referrals, transfers, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
Chemotherapy & Oncology Support
- Assist in the clinical evaluation and management of patients undergoing chemotherapy.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of chemotherapy protocols, treatment regimens, dosage schedules, contraindications, and supportive care.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after chemotherapy administration for adverse drug reactions, treatment-related toxicities, and clinical complications.
- Coordinate closely with oncologists, nursing staff, pharmacists, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure safe chemotherapy administration.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding chemotherapy procedures, expected side effects, medication adherence, nutritional care, and follow-up requirements.
- Ensure strict adherence to oncology treatment protocols, infection prevention measures, and patient safety guidelines.
Patient Care & Counselling
- Deliver ethical, compassionate, and patient-centric healthcare services.
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medications, preventive healthcare, and disease management.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of medical ethics.
Medical Data Compilation & Clinical Documentation
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely patient medical records in Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Compile, validate, extract, and analyze clinical and patient-related data for reporting and operational requirements.
- Prepare discharge summaries, medical certificates, referral notes, prescriptions, treatment summaries, and other medical documentation.
- Generate periodic clinical reports, treatment outcome summaries, departmental dashboards, and quality metrics.
- Support maintenance of oncology databases, patient registries, and clinical documentation systems.
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards required for audits, accreditation, and regulatory inspections.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, clinical protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety standards.
- Comply with NABH guidelines, biomedical waste management protocols, and all applicable healthcare regulations.
- Participate in clinical audits, mortality and morbidity meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation activities.
- Report clinical incidents, medication errors, adverse events, and near misses in accordance with organizational policies.
Coordination & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing teams, laboratory personnel, pharmacists, radiology departments, and other allied healthcare professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning meetings.
- Coordinate effectively with operations and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient care and workflow.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Support the smooth functioning of daily medical services and clinical operations.
- Participate in duty rosters, rotational shifts, and emergency on-call schedules as assigned.
- Assist in the implementation of clinical policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and process improvement initiatives.
Professional Development
- Stay updated with advancements in medical science, oncology treatment protocols, and evidence-based clinical practices.
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME), workshops, conferences, and internal training programs.
- Mentor junior doctors, interns, and nursing staff whenever required.
Educational Qualification
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council.
- BLS/ACLS certification will be an added advantage.
- Additional certification or exposure in Oncology, Chemotherapy Administration, Emergency Medicine, or Critical Care is preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) for preparing reports and presentations.

Preferred Experience
- Minimum 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a reputed hospital, oncology centre, multispecialty hospital, day-care chemotherapy centre, or healthcare organization.
- Hands-on experience in supporting chemotherapy services and oncology patient management is highly preferred.
- Experience in clinical data compilation, medical data extraction, healthcare reporting, and quality documentation.
- Exposure to NABH-accredited hospitals and healthcare quality systems will be an added advantage.
