Position: Lab Technician (Medical Laboratory Technician) Department: Laboratory / Diagnostics Reports To: Lab In-charge / Pathologist Employment Type: Full-time Location: Perumbakkam, Chennai
Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Lab Technician to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, ensure accurate and timely reporting, and maintain quality standards in our diagnostic laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood, urine, and other specimens from patients (OPD, IPD, and emergency)
- Perform routine investigations in biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, and clinical pathology
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and analyzers
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, storage, and disposal of samples as per protocols
- Enter test results accurately into the LIS/HIS system and prepare reports for verification
- Maintain internal and external quality control records (IQC/EQC)
- Follow infection control, biomedical waste management, and NABL/NABH guidelines
- Maintain reagent stock, monitor expiry dates, and raise indents on time
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and outsourced reference labs when required
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records at all times
Qualifications & Experience:
- DMLT / B.Sc. MLT from a recognized institution
- 1–3 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic lab (freshers with strong practical training may be considered)
- Registration with the relevant paramedical board (preferred)
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and sample processing
- Hands-on experience with semi/fully automated analyzers
- Knowledge of quality control and lab safety practices
- Basic computer skills (LIS/MS Office)
- Good communication in Tamil and English
Working Hours: Rotational shifts, including weekends/on-call as per hospital requirements
Salary: As per industry standards / based on experience
