Job Overview
Zaoq is looking for a skilled and dedicated Commis Chef – Tandoor Specialist to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Tandoor operations, Indian cuisine preparation, marination, grilling, and maintaining food quality standards in a fast-paced takeaway environment.
The role involves managing tandoor preparations, assisting senior chefs, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting smooth kitchen operations during service hours.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook tandoor items including kebabs, tikkas, breads, and grilled preparations as per restaurant standards
- Handle daily tandoor operations including heating, temperature control, and cooking techniques
- Perform marination, seasoning, portioning, and preparation of tandoor items
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, texture, and presentation
- Assist in kitchen operations and food preparation activities
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the tandoor section and kitchen area
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards as per kitchen guidelines
- Coordinate with senior chefs and kitchen staff during service hours
- Ensure timely preparation and dispatch of orders during peak hours
- Support stock checking, ingredient preparation, and proper food storage
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report any issues to the senior chef

Required Skills & QualificationsCulinary Skills
- 2–3 years of experience as a Commis Chef (Tandoor) in a restaurant/hotel/QSR setup
- Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine and tandoor cooking techniques
- Experience in preparing kebabs, tikkas, naan, breads, and grilled items
- Knowledge of marination techniques and ingredient handling
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
Operational Skills
- Ability to manage work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Basic knowledge of stock handling and kitchen operations
- Ability to maintain consistency during high-volume service
