Electrician: Duties and Roles
An electrician is a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Key Duties
- Install electrical wiring, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and electrical panels.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
- Inspect electrical systems to identify faults, hazards, or code violations.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems in wiring, equipment, and control systems.
- Install and maintain circuit breakers, transformers, generators, and other electrical components.
- Test electrical systems using specialized tools and instruments to ensure safe operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
- Replace damaged or outdated electrical components and wiring.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems.
- Diagnose electrical faults and provide effective solutions.
- Follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, contractors, and other trades during projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns.
- Advise customers or management on electrical upgrades, energy efficiency, and preventive maintenance.
Required Skills

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in electrical work.

Pay: ₹19,000.00 - ₹29,112.40 per month
