The OT Pharmacist is responsible for managing and dispensing medications, surgical consumables, anesthetic drugs, emergency medicines, and controlled substances required for surgical procedures. The role ensures timely availability of medicines, inventory control, regulatory compliance, and patient safety while coordinating closely with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and the central pharmacy.
- Ensure timely dispensing of medications and surgical supplies to all Operation Theatres.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of anesthetic drugs, emergency medicines, IV fluids, antibiotics, and surgical consumables.
- Verify medication requests and ensure accurate dispensing as per physician orders.
- Monitor storage conditions, temperature logs, and expiry dates of medicines.
- Maintain inventory of narcotic and controlled drugs as per statutory guidelines.
- Coordinate with the central pharmacy for replenishment of medicines and consumables.
- Prepare OT medication kits, crash cart medicines, and emergency drug trays.
- Document medication usage, stock movements, and daily consumption reports.
- Ensure compliance with NABH, hospital policies, and pharmacy regulations.
- Participate in medication audits, stock verification, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support surgeons, anesthetists, and OT staff during emergency surgical procedures.
- Report medication errors, adverse drug events, and stock discrepancies to the Pharmacy Manager.
- D.Pharm / B.Pharm (M.Pharm preferred)
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration
