About SmartDocs
SmartDocs is a 16-year-old bootstrapped enterprise SaaS company specializing in procurement and spend management, serving large enterprise and government clients across the US. With 60 employees and a strong foundation in Java/Angular/MongoDB, we are in an active phase of growth — expanding our engineering capabilities and strengthening our services delivery team to meet increasing client demand. This is a high-ownership role at a company where every senior hire directly shapes our next chapter.
Role Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Talent Acquisition Partner who knows how to proactively hunt and close strong engineering and delivery talent — not wait for them to apply. You will own the full recruiting lifecycle for technical and services roles, build pipelines where none exist today, and work closely with the CEO and leadership team to ensure we are consistently bringing exceptional people into SmartDocs.
This is not a coordination or administrative recruiting role. It requires someone who is comfortable reaching out cold, building relationships with passive candidates, and representing SmartDocs compellingly to senior professionals who aren't actively looking.
What You'll Own
Pipeline Building
Proactively source engineering and delivery talent through LinkedIn Recruiter, referral networks, community outreach, and direct headhunting — particularly for mid to senior level roles where inbound applications are insufficient.
End-to-End Recruiting
Own the process from initial outreach through offer acceptance — screening, coordinating interviews, gathering feedback, managing candidate experience, and supporting offer negotiations.
Senior Hiring Support
For Director-level and above roles, work directly with the CEO to understand the profile, craft the pitch, and build a targeted outreach list. You will prepare the CEO for final conversations, not just schedule them.
Hiring Manager Enablement
Coach and support engineering leads and delivery managers on how to evaluate candidates effectively and run structured interviews. Many hiring managers at SmartDocs have not hired senior talent before — part of your job is to change that.
Hiring Metrics and Accountability
Maintain visibility into pipeline health for all open roles — number of candidates in each stage, conversion rates, time-to-fill — and surface blockers early rather than late.
Employer Brand
Help SmartDocs tell its story more effectively to candidates — refining job descriptions, improving how we show up on LinkedIn, and ensuring candidates walk away from every interaction with a positive impression regardless of outcome.
What We're Looking For

Experience: 6–10 years in talent acquisition, with at least 4 years focused on technical and engineering hiring within product or enterprise SaaS companies.

Startup Recruiting Background: Prior experience recruiting for startups or early-to-mid stage growth companies is strongly preferred — hiring in environments where the brand isn't well-known, compensation can't always compete with large firms, and candidates need to be sold on vision and trajectory is exactly the muscle this role requires. Experience at a mid-size Indian tech company or GCC/captive engineering center serving global clients is a strong plus.

Headhunting Ability: You must be comfortable reaching out cold to passive candidates and have a track record of building pipelines from scratch, not just managing inbound. If your prior experience is primarily posting jobs and screening applicants, this role is not the right fit.

Domain Familiarity: Enough understanding of Java-based backend engineering, Angular, and services delivery roles to have credible conversations with candidates and accurately assess fit before presenting to hiring managers.

Senior Hiring Track Record: Demonstrable experience closing candidates at the Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, Delivery Manager, or similar senior levels — people who had other options and chose to join because of how they were recruited.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication in English. You will be representing SmartDocs to US-facing candidates and working with leadership in both countries.

Ownership Mentality: SmartDocs is a bootstrapped company. There is no large recruitment team behind you. You will need to operate independently, prioritize intelligently, and hold yourself accountable without being micromanaged.

10+ hires closed across engineering and delivery, with at least 3–4 at senior or lead level

Active pipeline maintained for all priority roles at all times — no role should go more than 2 weeks without qualified candidates in process
