Senior Manager – Software Engineering (Full Stack, AI-First)

Experience:

Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality healthcare applications. This role requires a balance of technical depth, execution leadership, and people management, with responsibility for enabling team success, fostering engineering excellence, and driving delivery of business priorities in a fast-paced, AI-first development environment.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
Lead and develop a team of 4-8 software engineers.
Drive sprint execution and delivery commitments.
Partner with Product Managers, QA, and platform teams to deliver business outcomes.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and career development of engineers.
Provide timely feedback and performance guidance.
Technical Leadership
Contribute to system design and architecture discussions.
Guide implementation of scalable Java/Spring Boot microservices and React-based applications.
Participate in code reviews and technical design reviews.
Drive engineering best practices around testing, code quality, observability, and maintainability.
Support production issue investigation and resolution when required.
AI-First Engineering
Promote responsible adoption of AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Windsurf.
Encourage AI-assisted development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
Ensure AI-generated code is reviewed for correctness, security, and maintainability.
Help teams improve productivity through effective AI-enabled engineering practices.
Delivery Excellence
Ensure predictable delivery of features and platform enhancements.
Drive adherence to CI/CD, automated testing, and release management processes.
Monitor delivery risks and proactively address execution challenges.
Maintain high standards for reliability, scalability, and security.
Minimum Qualifications
Technical Skills
9-12 years of software engineering experience
Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
Experience building and supporting React-based applications.
Hands-on experience with distributed systems and event-driven architecture (Kafka or equivalent).
Experience with SQL databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
Strong troubleshooting and production support skills.
Leadership Skills
1+ years of people management, team leadership, or technical leadership experience.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading feature teams.
Proven ability to deliver complex projects in Agile environments.
Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams.
AI-First Expectations
Practical experience using AI coding assistants within the software development lifecycle.
Ability to validate and govern AI-generated code.
Strong understanding of software quality, security, and engineering best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare technology experience.
Knowledge of FHIR, HL7, C-CDA, HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Databricks, Elasticsearch, or Redis.
Experience working in cloud-native environments.
