About the Role
Sandes runs on an ejabberd XMPP server for message exchange, deployed across large production clusters, and secures messages, audio, and video calls with End-to-End Encryption (E2EE). We're looking for a Team Leader with deep expertise in two specialized areas: ejabberd cluster performance and post-quantum cryptography, to help us keep Sandes fast, reliable, and secure for the future.
Current Architecture
- Messaging backend: ejabberd XMPP server
- Production: 3 clusters, 4 nodes each
- Staging: 1 cluster, 3 nodes
- Security: End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) for messages, audio, and video calls
What You'll Do as ejabberd Expert:
- Maintain, monitor, and tune ejabberd cluster performance based on real-world load
- Ensure high availability and stability across production and staging environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve clustering, scaling, and performance issues
As Quantum Expert:
- Assess the existing E2EE algorithms used for messaging, audio, and video calls
- Design and implement a migration path to post-quantum safe E2EE algorithms
- Ensure security upgrades are implemented without compromising performance or reliability
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience with ejabberd (or XMPP server) administration and clustering
- Experience monitoring and tuning distributed messaging systems under production load
- Solid understanding of End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) protocols
- Knowledge of post-quantum cryptography and experience migrating classical encryption to post-quantum safe algorithms
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
Experience
Senior-level / Team Lead experience in messaging infrastructure and/or applied cryptography (specific years to be defined based on requirement)
