Job Summary
The Portable CMM Operator performs dimensional inspections using portable coordinate measuring machines (such as laser trackers, portable arms, or handheld scanners). The role involves verifying component accuracy, identifying deviations, preparing inspection reports, and supporting production and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate portable CMM equipment to inspect parts, assemblies, and tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain portable CMM equipment.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Create and execute inspection programs using CMM software.
- Analyze measurement results and identify dimensional deviations.
- Generate inspection reports and maintain quality documentation.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve inspection-related issues.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain equipment in good working condition.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience operating portable CMM equipment (or as required).
- Knowledge of metrology and dimensional inspection techniques.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
- Experience with CMM software such as PolyWorks, PC-DMIS, CAM2, or Metrolog.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and report preparation.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
