The CNC Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and production requirements. The operator ensures quality, productivity, and adherence to safety standards while maintaining machine efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC Turning, CNC Milling, or VMC machines as per production plan.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished components.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Perform tool offset adjustments and basic machine settings.
- Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using measuring instruments.
- Ensure components meet specified quality standards and tolerances.
- Replace worn tools and report tool breakage to the supervisor.
- Monitor machine performance and identify abnormal machine conditions.
- Maintain production records and inspection reports.
- Follow 5S, Kaizen, and company safety procedures.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance of machines.
- Report quality issues, machine breakdowns, and production delays promptly.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of CNC Turning and/or CNC Milling operations.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Dial Gauge
- Bore Gauge (preferred)
- Understanding of dimensional tolerances and quality requirements.
- Basic knowledge of cutting tools and inserts.
- Good attention to detail and quality awareness.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts.
Qualification
- ITI (Fitter/Machinist/Turner) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Freshers or experienced candidates can apply.
Experience
- 0–5 years in CNC Turning, CNC Milling, or VMC operations in a machine shop.
