Medical Officer / Duty Doctor (Critical Care & Geriatrics)
Company: Divine Grace Hospital (Integrated Multi Speciality Hospital)
Job Type: Full-time (Rotational Shifts)
Experience: Minimum 2+ years post-MBBS in ICU, Emergency, or Geriatric Care
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with clinical experience
About the Role
Divine Grace Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate MBBS Medical Officer to join our clinical team. This role bridges the gap between acute emergency management and specialized elderly care.
We are looking for a doctor who is confident in managing high-acuity patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU/HDU) and is equally adept at understanding the complex, multi-system needs of our geriatric patients. You will work closely with primary consultants, intensivists, and our specialized rehabilitation team to ensure comprehensive, continuous patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Care Management:
- Act as the first responder for all medical emergencies within the hospital, including code blues.
- Monitor ICU/HDU patients, interpret vital signs, ECGs, and ABGs, and initiate immediate corrective measures under the guidance of the primary consultant.
- Perform or assist in critical care procedures such as central line insertions, intubation, catheterization, and CPR.
- Ensure detailed, accurate, and timely documentation of patient progress notes, treatment charts, and transfer/discharge summaries.
Geriatric Care:
- Manage elderly patients with complex multi-morbidities in both inpatient wards and step-down units.
- Collaborate closely with our neuro-physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and nursing staff for the holistic management of stroke and dementia patients.
- Focus on geriatric-specific clinical protocols, including fall risk assessment, polypharmacy management, and delirium prevention.
- Counsel patients and their families with deep empathy regarding prognoses, treatment plans, and transition to palliative or home care.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
- Registration: Valid permanent registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council.
- Experience: 1 to 5 years of post-internship clinical experience. Specific hands-on experience in a multi-bed ICU, Emergency Department, or specialized Geriatric facility is required.
- Certifications: Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications are mandatory.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to remain calm under extreme pressure.
- Excellent communication skills for inter-departmental coordination and family counseling.
- Empathy and patience, particularly when dealing with vulnerable elderly patients and their anxious families.
What We Offer
- A dynamic clinical environment that enhances your skills in both emergency medicine and specialized geriatric care.
- Opportunities to learn directly from senior intensivists and neurologists.
- Competitive salary with night shift allowances.
- Supportive management and a collaborative multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
