6. Sr. Executive – Gemstone Planning (L4)

Job Purpose
To drive end-to-end gemstone planning and supply alignment by translating business, collection and jewellery production requirements into an effective gemstone procurement and supply plan.
The role will ensure the right gemstone, in the right quantity, quality and timeline, while optimizing inventory, procurement lead time, vendor capacity and working capital.
Key Responsibilities
A. Gemstone Demand Planning
- Consolidate gemstone requirements from Design, Merchandising, Category, NPI, Planning and Jewellery Manufacturing teams.
- Translate jewellery projections, design requirements and production plans into detailed gemstone requirements.
- Analyze demand across proto, MTO, bulk and regular production requirements.
- Prepare SKU-wise, gemstone-wise and collection-wise demand plans.
- Identify upcoming demand for critical, rare, high-value and long-lead-time gemstones.
- Highlight demand fluctuations, shortages and potential supply risks proactively.
B. Gemstone Supply Planning
- Develop an integrated Gemstone Supply Plan aligned with jewellery production and collection launch schedules.
- Plan gemstone procurement considering:
- Demand
- Existing stock
- Vendor inventory
- Open purchase orders
- Vendor capacity
- Lead time
- MOQ
- Quality approval
- Logistics timelines
- Ensure continuity of gemstone supply to jewellery manufacturing vendors.
- Coordinate with sourcing teams to prioritise procurement against business-critical requirements.
Procurement Planning
- Prepare procurement proposals based on projected demand, available inventory and future requirements.
- Coordinate with Outright Sourcing and Proto Gemstone Supply teams for timely procurement.
- Identify procurement priorities based on:
- Business criticality
- Lead time
- Value
- Scarcity
- Vendor capacity
- Collection launch date
- Monitor open purchase orders and ensure timely closure.
- Escalate procurement risks and shortages well in advance.
Collection & New Product Planning
- Work closely with Design, Merchandising and NPI teams during collection development.
- Understand collection timelines and translate them into gemstone readiness plans.
- Develop gemstone requirement plans for new collections well ahead of launch.
- Identify long-lead-time stones and initiate advance sourcing.
- Support collection teams with information on gemstone availability, lead time, cost and sourcing feasibility.
Proto-to-Bulk Planning
- Monitor conversion of gemstone requirements from Proto Bulk.
- Ensure approved proto gemstone specifications are captured for bulk planning.
- Identify potential gaps between prototype requirements and final bulk projections.
- Highlight design / order changes that may impact gemstone procurement.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to minimise additional procurement cycles caused by projection changes.
I. Data Analytics & MIS
- Develop and maintain planning dashboards covering:
- Demand vs. supply
- Stock vs. requirement
- Open PO
- Vendor inventory
- Shortage / excess
- Ageing inventory
- Procurement pipeline
- Vendor capacity
- Critical SKU status
- Conduct periodic forecast accuracy and supply-plan variance analysis.
- Provide management with actionable insights for procurement and inventory decisions.
- Establish data-driven planning processes for gemstone sourcing.

5. Qualification & Experience
Qualification
- Graduate in science / Supply Chain / Operations / Commerce / Business Management or related discipline.
- Gemmology / Jewellery qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Preferably 4–7 years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, procurement planning, inventory management, jewellery sourcing or gemstone sourcing.
- Experience in jewellery / gemstones / luxury / retail supply chain will be preferred.
- Strong experience in Excel, MIS and data analysis is essential.
