QA Automation Engineer Role Overview We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, specializing in test automation framework development and implementation. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Playwright and TypeScript, along with strong manual testing skills to ensure end-to-end product quality. This role involves designing scalable automation solutions, driving automation strategy, integrating testing within CI/CD pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software releases. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for web and API applications using Playwright and TypeScript. Create, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing. Drive automation initiatives to improve test coverage, optimize testing efforts, and enhance release quality. Perform manual testing activities, including exploratory, usability, and edge-case testing where automation is not feasible. Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and QA teams to ensure testability and quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid feedback. Analyze test execution results, identify defects, perform root-cause analysis, and work with development teams to resolve issues. Review automation code and establish best practices for test automation development and maintenance. Continuously improve automation frameworks, testing processes, and toolsets to enhance efficiency and reliability. Ensure adherence to QA standards, SDLC processes, Agile methodologies, and quality governance practices. Required Skills & Qualifications 8+ years of experience in Quality Assurance with a strong focus on Automation Testing. Hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript. Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript. Experience designing and maintaining scalable automation frameworks from scratch. Solid understanding of manual testing concepts, including: Test planning and design Defect lifecycle management Exploratory and regression testing Experience with API testing and automation using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or equivalent. Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving skills. Good understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, Agile practices, and test management processes. Preferred Skills Experience with automation tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, TestNG, and JUnit. Exposure to BDD frameworks such as Cucumber or Behave. Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and cloud-based testing approaches. Knowledge of Git and modern version control practices. Experience with SQL and database validation/testing. Exposure to containerized environments and cloud-native testing ecosystems. Understanding of performance, security, and non-functional testing concepts.
