About Service Squad
Service Squad is a fast-growing US construction firm seeking a highly skilled MEP Estimator to join our expanding remote estimating division. In this role, you will leverage advanced digital take-off software to produce highly accurate, comprehensive pricing estimates specifically for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems on US commercial and industrial projects.
This role begins as a freelance/project-based position, with the explicit goal of transitioning the right candidate into a permanent, full-time remote role within our global team.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Advanced MEP Take-offs: Perform detailed and accurate material, equipment, and labor take-offs for all MEP divisions using digital software.
- Complex HVAC & Mechanical Systems: Quantify and price heavy commercial mechanical equipment including Chillers, Cooling Towers, RTUs (Rooftop Units), VRF systems, and extensive Duct Systems/ventilation layouts.
- Specialized Piping: Estimate complex commercial plumbing and process piping systems, factoring in correct schedules, fittings, insulation, and valving.
- Electrical Integration: Quantify electrical runs, panels, conduits, fixtures, and low-voltage systems tied to mechanical equipment hookups.
- US Pricing & Costing: Build comprehensive estimates utilizing US cost databases (like RSMeans), factoring in localized US labor rates, material market fluctuations, and local tax structures.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
- US Project Experience: Minimum 3+ years of proven experience preparing MEP estimates specifically for US-based commercial or industrial construction projects. Must be intimately familiar with imperial measurements (feet, inches, CFMs, BTUs).
- Technical System Expertise: Demonstrated technical knowledge in pricing major equipment (Chillers, Cooling Towers, RTUs) and detailed distribution networks (Process Piping, Duct Systems).
- Software Expertise: Proficiency in standard digital take-off and estimating software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam, Trimble Estimation/FastPIPE/FastDUCT, QuoteSoft, or similar tools).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, as you will be collaborating directly with a US-based management team to clarify project scope.
- Infrastructure: A reliable, high-speed internet connection, a capable workstation, and uninterrupted power backup (UPS/Inverter) to support remote work.
