Job Summary
The Iron Plant Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant equipment involved in the production of iron. The role includes ensuring smooth plant operations, maintaining production targets, following safety procedures, monitoring process parameters, and reporting any abnormalities to supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor iron plant machinery and equipment during production.
- Ensure continuous and efficient plant operation as per production schedules.
- Monitor process parameters, temperatures, pressures, and material flow.
- Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment and report any defects or malfunctions.
- Maintain production records, logbooks, and shift reports.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure raw materials are fed properly and production quality standards are maintained.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness in the work area.
- Assist in plant start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations.
- Identify and report operational issues affecting productivity or safety.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of iron manufacturing processes and plant operations.
- Understanding of industrial safety practices and environmental regulations.
- Ability to monitor and control production parameters.
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in rotating shifts.
Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgy, or related discipline.
- Higher qualifications may be preferred depending on plant requirements.
Experience
- 1–5 years of experience in an iron plant, steel plant, sponge iron plant, blast furnace, or related manufacturing industry.
- Freshers with relevant technical qualifications may also be considered.
