Job Summary
The VMC CAM Programmer is responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs for Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) using CAM software. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings, creating tool paths, selecting cutting tools, conducting machine trials, and ensuring efficient production while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create CNC machining programs for VMC machines using CAM software such as Powermill, Autodesk.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T requirements.
- Develop machining strategies for precision components, molds, dies, fixtures, and production parts.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, and Tool Room teams.
- Maintain program backups, setup sheets, and process documentation.
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in VMC Programming and CAM operations.
- Hands-on experience with 3-Axis and preferably 4-Axis VMC machines.
- Proficiency in CAM software such as Powermill, Autodesk.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
