Job Summary
Role Overview We are looking for a skilled Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist to manage the full lifecycle of software assets across a global enterprise. The role focuses on license optimization, utilization, vendor and contract management, audit readiness, and ensuring compliance with enterprise policies and contractual terms. Key Responsibilities Software Asset Lifecycle Management Define, implement, and maintain frameworks for managing software assets from acquisition to retirement. Ensure accurate tracking, entitlement validation, usage monitoring, and compliant disposal of software assets. Vendor & Supplier Management Build and manage relationships with major Tier1 & Tier2 software vendors. Monitor and optimize supplier performance to align with organizational objectives. Proactively engage with vendors to stay updated on licensing changes and compliance requirements. Contract Management Ensure contracts include optimized terms, compliance safeguards etc.. Collaborate with procurement, finance, and legal teams to maintain strong contract governance. Audit & Compliance Support Prepare and coordinate responses for vendor audits. Maintain accurate license balances and documentation for compliance. Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions. Cross Functional Collaboration Work closely with procurement, IT operations, finance, and global teams. Communicate complex licensing scenarios clearly for varied stakeholders. Tools & Systems Use tools such as SAP, Ariba, Aspera Smart track, Beneering, Flexera and ServiceNow SAM Pro. Support reporting, analysis and automation for inventory and entitlement accuracy. Qualifications Degree with a focus on IT and business administration or equivalent acquired knowledge. Relevant experience in the areas of license and contract management (demand management, term management, compliance, etc.). Comprehensive knowledge of IT procurement and support processes. Ideally profound experience in software asset management, especially in global tender and contract management processes. Preferably experience with software audits for large manufacturers such as Microsoft and SAP. Experience in international collaboration and project management. Experience in the structure, organization and operations of a global corporation. Ability to analyze, understand, document and present complex interrelationships in a way that is appropriate for the target group. Ability to work well with a wide variety of people and to find solutions within different interest groups. Negotiating skills, ability to work in a team, assertiveness, good presentation skills, willingness to cooperate across departments. Willingness to take responsibility for the development of economic solutions. Ability to manage cross-location projects. Ability to familiarize yourself independently and efficiently with new areas of knowledge. Willingness to communicate with people from other language and cultural backgrounds.
