Job Summary
We are looking for a Junior Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance with 2–5 years of relevant experience in the packaging industry, preferably corrugated box manufacturing.
The candidate should have basic mechanical knowledge and practical understanding of industrial machinery maintenance. The role requires good coordination with Production, Maintenance, Stores, Purchase, Quality, and other departments, along with good communication, reporting, follow-up, and basic computer/system skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Maintenance team in day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities.
- Carry out routine inspection of machines and equipment to identify potential problems.
- Assist in preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical problems and coordinate with senior engineers when required.
- Ensure machines are maintained properly to minimize breakdowns and production downtime.
- Monitor machine performance and report abnormal conditions immediately.
- Assist in maintenance of corrugated box manufacturing machinery and related equipment.
- Handle basic mechanical components such as bearings, shafts, gears, chains, sprockets, belts, rollers, couplings, pneumatic components, etc.
- Assist in machine alignment, lubrication, installation, modification, and repair activities.
- Coordinate with Production to plan maintenance activities without affecting production schedules.
- Coordinate with Stores/Purchase for availability of spare parts and maintenance materials.
- Coordinate with external vendors/service technicians when required.
- Maintain proper records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance, spare parts, and machine history.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
- Follow up on pending maintenance activities and ensure timely completion.
- Maintain maintenance checklists and update records in the system.
- Support improvement activities to reduce machine breakdowns and increase equipment efficiency.
- Follow all safety procedures, 5S practices, and company maintenance standards.
Required Technical Skills
- 2–5 years of experience in the packaging industry
- Experience in corrugated box manufacturing / packaging machinery maintenance will be highly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering and industrial machinery.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of bearings, shafts, gears, belts, chains, couplings, rollers, pneumatic systems, and lubrication systems.
- Basic knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ability to identify basic mechanical faults and take appropriate action.
- Basic understanding of machine drawings and maintenance manuals is an advantage.
- Basic computer/system knowledge.
- Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, Email, and ERP/maintenance systems is preferred.

Qualification
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
