Business Development Head — Lithium-ion Battery Packs
About the Founder
You will be working directly with the founder, an IIM Ahmedabad and McKinsey alumnus, who is building a lithium-ion battery pack assembly business focused on EV and energy storage applications. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with the founder from the early stages of business setup, including customer discovery, sales strategy, pilot partnerships, channel development, and commercial execution.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Business Development Head to help build the commercial engine for a lithium-ion battery pack assembly business focused on 2W, 3W and energy storage applications.
This is an early-stage role. The person will work directly with the founder to identify target customer segments, speak to potential buyers, understand product requirements, build the sales pipeline, and convert early pilot/commercial opportunities.
This is not a desk-based strategy role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with customer outreach, field visits, technical sales conversations, follow-ups, negotiations, and closing.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and build a pipeline of potential customers across EV, BESS, industrial, commercial, and battery replacement segments.
- Reach out to 2W/3W manufacturers, e-rickshaw players, fleet operators, C&I customers, solar EPCs, battery dealers, and channel partners.
- Conduct customer discovery to understand battery pack requirements, pricing expectations, performance needs, warranty expectations, and procurement processes.
- Set up meetings, demos, pilot discussions, and commercial conversations with relevant decision-makers.
- Work with the founder and technical team to translate customer requirements into product specifications.
- Build and maintain a structured sales pipeline with customer status, next steps, decision-makers, expected volume, pricing, and probability of conversion.
- Support pricing, quotation preparation, commercial proposals, and negotiation.
- Identify high-potential use cases where a new lithium-ion battery pack assembler can realistically compete.
- Develop relationships with OEMs, dealers, distributors, fleet operators, system integrators, and institutional customers.
- Track competitor offerings, pricing, warranty terms, customer complaints, and market gaps.
- Support early pilot projects and ensure strong customer coordination from lead generation to order closure.
- Help define the go-to-market strategy for the business across different customer segments.
Required Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, key account management, or channel sales.
- Prior experience selling lithium-ion batteries, EV batteries, lead-acid batteries, inverters, solar products, BESS, chargers, automotive components, or industrial electrical products.
- Strong ability to generate leads, reach decision-makers, set up meetings, and close commercial discussions.
- Comfortable selling technical or semi-technical products to OEMs, businesses, institutions, or channel partners.
- Ability to understand customer requirements and coordinate with technical teams.
- Strong communication, follow-up, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, factory visits, vendor meetings, and market visits.
- Ability to work in an early-stage environment with limited structure and high ownership.
Preferred Experience
- Existing relationships with EV OEMs, 2W/3W manufacturers, e-rickshaw companies, battery dealers, fleet operators, solar EPCs, or industrial customers.
- Experience selling to customers in NCR, Delhi, Gurgaon, Manesar, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Sonipat, Bahadurgarh, Rohtak, Jaipur, and nearby industrial clusters.
- Experience in dealer/distributor development or institutional B2B sales.
- Prior exposure to early-stage business development, new product sales, or category creation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has sold technical B2B products in EV, batteries, energy, electrical equipment, solar, automotive components, or industrial markets and can help build the first customer pipeline from scratch.
We are looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, field-oriented, commercially sharp, persistent with follow-ups, and capable of converting market conversations into real business opportunities.
