Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior IBM MQ Technician to manage, support, and optimize enterprise messaging infrastructure based on IBM MQ. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in MQ administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, high availability configurations, and integration with various enterprise applications. The role involves ensuring reliable message delivery, maintaining system availability, and supporting mission critical business applications across distributed and mainframe environments.
Key Responsibilities
IBM MQ Administration
. Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM MQ environments across multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, UNIX, AIX, and z/OS).
. Create and manage Queue Managers, Queues, Channels, Listeners, and MQ Objects.
. Configure and administer MQ Clustering, Client Connections, and Distributed Queuing.
. Manage SSL/TLS security configurations, certificates, and channel authentication records.
Monitoring & Support
. Monitor MQ infrastructure for performance, availability, and capacity.
. Perform proactive health checks and preventive maintenance.
. Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support and participate in on call rotations.
. Investigate and resolve MQ related incidents, outages, and performance issues.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery
. Implement and support MQ High Availability solutions.
. Configure Multi Instance Queue Managers and Disaster Recovery environments.
. Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery testing activities.
Performance Tuning
. Analyze MQ logs, traces, and system metrics.
. Optimize queue manager performance and resource utilization.
. Identify bottlenecks and recommend infrastructure improvements.
Security & Compliance
. Implement MQ security policies and access controls.
. Configure SSL/TLS encryption, CHLAUTH rules, and OAM permissions.
. Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and audit requirements.
Automation & Documentation
. Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell, Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
. Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
. Support infrastructure as code and automation initiatives.
Collaboration
. Work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors.
. Support application onboarding, migrations, and middleware integration projects.
. Participate in architecture reviews and technology upgrade initiatives.

Required Qualifications
. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
. 8+ years of hands on experience with IBM MQ Administration.
. Strong understanding of messaging architecture and middleware technologies.
. Experience supporting large scale enterprise environments.
. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
