Position: Apprenticeship Trainee – Research & Development (R&D)

Job Summary
The Apprenticeship Trainee will assist the R&D team in process development, optimization, laboratory experiments, documentation, and technology transfer activities related to Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). The trainee will gain practical exposure to API process development while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting laboratory experiments for process development and optimization of APIs and intermediates.
- Support route scouting, process evaluation, and feasibility studies for new products.
- Participate in process improvement and cost optimization projects.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, records, and experimental data as per Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, development reports, and SOPs.
- Support process scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing.
- Participate in technology transfer activities and provide support to Production and other cross-functional teams.
- Assist in analyzing reaction parameters, yields, impurities, and process performance.
- Ensure adherence to cGMP, GLP, EHS, and company safety guidelines.
- Coordinate with QA, QC, ARD, Production, Engineering, and Regulatory Affairs departments as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process validation activities.
- Support literature searches, patent reviews, and technical data collection for new product development.
Qualification
- M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry) / M.Sc. (Chemistry)
- M.Pharm
- B.Tech / B.E. (Chemical Engineering)
- Or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
Experience
- Freshers or candidates with up to 1 year of relevant experience are eligible.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of organic chemistry and API manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of laboratory techniques, chemical reactions, and purification methods.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of cGMP, GLP, and laboratory safety practices.
- Good documentation and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong learning attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to API pharmaceutical manufacturing or research laboratories.
- Understanding of process chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality systems.
