- Design & Analysis: Produce detailed structural designs, calculations, and mathematical models for projects using software like AutoCAD or FEA tools.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all structural designs adhere to relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Material Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate materials (steel, concrete, timber, etc.) for construction.
- Collaboration & Project Management: Liaise with architects, contractors, and other engineers to coordinate designs and manage project timelines.
- Inspections & Reporting: Conduct site visits, inspect foundations and structural elements, and prepare structural assessment reports.
- Construction Support: Review fabrication drawings and provide technical advice to contractors during construction
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) designation is usually required for senior roles.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with design software (e.g., Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD).
- Analytical Abilities: Strong proficiency in physics and mathematics to calculate load, stress, and structural capacity.
- Attention to Detail: High precision in drafting and checking designs to avoid structural failures
