Industry Preference: Aerospace, Medical Devices, Precision Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing.
Work Location: Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram.
Reporting to: Costing Manager.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Engineer – Costing & Estimation to support business growth through accurate costing, process planning, and quotation preparation for precision-machined components and assemblies.
The role requires strong expertise in CNC machining processes, manufacturing cost analysis, and technical interpretation of customer requirements within the Aerospace and Medical Device industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements for Aerospace and Medical Device components.
- Analyse part manufacturability and define the most efficient manufacturing process routes for CNC machining operations.
- Develop cost estimates for CNC Turning, Multi-Axis Milling (3, 4 & 5 Axis), Turn-Mill, Swiss-Type Machining, and secondary operations.
- Calculate machining cycle times, setup times, machine loading, labour requirements, and overall manufacturing costs.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to obtain quotations for raw materials, special processes, tooling, subcontract operations, and purchased components.
- Prepare comprehensive cost models, pricing sheets, and customer quotations while ensuring target margins are achieved.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams to validate technical feasibility and cost assumptions.
- Participate in customer discussions, technical reviews, and commercial negotiations to support new business acquisition.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, value engineering, process improvements, and productivity enhancement for existing products.
- Maintain costing databases, cycle-time libraries, standard cost structures, and estimating templates to improve quotation accuracy and turnaround time.
- Support make-versus-buy evaluations and capacity planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with Aerospace and Medical Device industry standards, customer specifications, and quality requirements.
