Job Summary:
The OT Staff Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care in the operation theatre, assisting surgeons and anesthetists during surgical procedures, and ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical environment. The role focuses on patient safety, infection control, and smooth coordination of surgical activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operation theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and surgical team during operations.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs before, during, and after surgery.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection control protocols.
- Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and ensure proper documentation.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients.
- Ensure proper positioning and safety of patients during surgery.
- Manage OT inventory, including surgical supplies and medications.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and support life-saving procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with valid nursing registration.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in operation theatre (preferred).
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
