About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. You will ensure that projects are completed within budget and to the highest standard of quality, handling everything from initial cost estimates and bill of quantities to final account settlements and subcontractor management.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Cost Planning: Prepare early stage cost estimates, detailed cost plans, and preliminary budgets from architectural and engineering drawings.
Tendering & Procurement: Assist in preparing tender documents, evaluating contractor bids, conducting commercial negotiations, and drafting contract agreements.
Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Prepare accurate BOQs, take-offs, and pricing documents for various construction packages.
Cost Control & Reporting: Monitor project expenditures, prepare monthly cost-value reconciliations (CVR), and forecast cost-to-completion to ensure projects stay within budget.
Valuations & Variations: Assess and value subcontractor applications, measure site progress, and process interim payment certificates. Evaluate, negotiate, and price variations or changes to the scope of work.
Contract Administration: Administer construction contracts, ensure compliance with contractual terms, and assist in identifying or mitigating commercial risks.
Final Accounts: Settle final accounts with clients, main contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring all claims are resolved fairly and promptly.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: [5 to 8] years of proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor, Subcontractor, or Consultancy firm.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in measuring software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Planswift) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong working knowledge of standard construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, JCT, NEC).
Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, pricing, and labor rates.
Soft Skills:
Strong numerical and analytical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail.
Effective negotiation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict project deadlines under pressure.
