The Financial Systems team provides technology expertise to the finance department, and is responsible for SAP HANA to Snowflake migration and connected 3rd party systems at Booking.com. We want to change the way people work with data, by building a finance application platform that supports simplification of business processes, and empowers the finance community with better financial insights.
As a Senior BI engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining reporting solutions. You will have a thorough understanding of Snowflake modelling concepts and SQL and data integration and be responsible for designing and implementing business requirements as well as data accuracy in reports. You will support the team in day-to-day Data modelling using Dbt and support, monitoring the production environment, identifying and fixing issues, and improving system performance. As this role involves daily interaction with the finance department, it is essential that you have a good background in finance, and strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

B.Responsible:
Development and support of BI environment in collaboration with finance stakeholders. Migration from SAP Hana reporting platform to Snowflake using Dbt modelling and development of models in Snowflake using Dbt and front end reports.
Responsible for data loading, monitoring and system performance.
Engage with users to understand their needs and develop/maintain application, logical and technical data architectures.
Integration and implementation of changes.
Training of key users.
B.Skilled:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
7+ years of expertise in the IT industry
5+ years of full hands-on DBT development and Snowflake is a must
- Data Warehousing (Dimensional, Data Vault, etc.)
- Data Modeling (Conceptual to Physical)
Hands on Experience in Tableau.
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with platforms such as Snowflake or Hana
Strong knowledge of SQL, Stored Procedures and Functions
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of datamodels and stored procedures is required
Knowledge in SAP HANA XSA development is a plus
Knowledge in SAP Datasphere is a plus
Experience with Git concepts (GitHub / Gitlab) is a must.
Experience with CI/CD, pipelines is a must.
Exposure in XSA(Good to have) & DB Security concepts (Roles, Privileges etc)
Data modeling:
OLTP vs OLAP
Star/snowflake schema
Understanding of:
Knowledge of working with SDA/SDI and SLT is an advantage.
Experience with CAP framework is an advantage
Knowledge of agile development processes (SCRUM or Kanban) and experience with Jira a plus
Superior attention to detail and quality required
Proven ability to adopt new technologies
Demonstrated interest for researching new technologies and developing business cases to support stakeholders across the organization
Ability to have a good grasp of the details and manage multiple priorities. Able to work in a quick turnaround environment.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
