Job Description: Pharmacist – Procurement
SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Pharmacist with a strong background in pharmaceutical product purchasing and procurement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing pharmaceutical products while ensuring regulatory compliance, cost optimization, and uninterrupted product availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure pharmaceutical products, medical consumables, and healthcare supplies from approved vendors.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and favorable commercial terms.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent stock shortages and overstocking.
- Raise purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure timely receipt of goods.
- Verify product quality, batch details, expiry dates, and regulatory documentation before procurement.
- Maintain relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate with warehouse, finance, and operations teams for smooth procurement and payment processes.
- Monitor market trends, product availability, and pricing to optimize procurement strategies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable pharmaceutical regulations and company procurement policies.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier documentation, and purchase reports.
- Resolve supplier issues related to product availability, quality, or delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm/M.Pharm).
- Registered Pharmacist (where required by local regulations).
- 2–5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical procurement or purchasing.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, brands, generic medicines, and medical consumables.
- Experience working with pharmaceutical distributors, manufacturers, and vendors.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, procurement software, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in hospital, retail pharmacy, or healthcare procurement.
- Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain processes.
- Familiarity with vendor management and contract negotiations.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple procurement activities.
