About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Fiber Technician Trainer to develop and deliver training programs for aspiring and existing fiber optic technicians. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and network maintenance, along with a passion for teaching and mentoring technical professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and practical training sessions on fiber optic technologies and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Train candidates on fiber optic cable installation, splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Develop and update training materials, presentations, assessments, and lab exercises.
- Conduct hands-on demonstrations and supervise practical training activities.
- Evaluate trainee performance through assessments, practical tests, and feedback sessions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Maintain training equipment, tools, and laboratory facilities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to trainees.
- Track training progress and prepare performance reports.
- Stay updated with advancements in fiber optic technologies and industry trends.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–8 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance.
- Prior training, teaching, or mentoring experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of FTTH, FTTx, GPON, and fiber optic network architectures.
- Experience with OTDR, Optical Power Meter, Fusion Splicer, and related testing equipment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to learners with varying skill levels.
Preferred Skills
- Fiber optic certifications from recognized institutions.
- Knowledge of telecom industry standards and safety procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience in curriculum development and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
