WANTED POWDER COATING OPERATOR
We are seeking a skilled Powder Coater to join our sheet metal manufacturing team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing metal surfaces, applying powder coating, operating coating equipment, and ensuring high-quality finishing standards. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sheet metal components for powder coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, and pre-treatment processes.
- Operate powder coating guns, booths, ovens, and related equipment.
- Apply powder coatings according to customer specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor coating thickness, finish quality, color consistency, and curing parameters.
- Load and unload parts from coating lines and curing ovens.
- Inspect finished products for defects such as uneven coating, pinholes, scratches, or color variations.
- Perform touch-ups and rework when required.
- Maintain cleanliness of powder coating booths, spray guns, and work areas.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of powder materials.
- Follow production schedules and achieve daily output targets.
- Adhere to safety regulations, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of powder coating processes and surface preparation techniques.
- Ability to operate powder coating equipment and curing ovens.
- Understanding of coating thickness measurement and quality inspection standards.
- Familiarity with sheet metal components and finishing requirements.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma / Technical Certification preferred.
- Experience in powder coating, painting, or surface finishing operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices and PPE usage.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication or engineering manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with pre-treatment processes such as degreasing, phosphating, and surface cleaning.
- Experience working with automated or manual powder coating systems.
- PREVIOUS EXPRIENCE - MIN 2 YEARS REQUIRED
