Job Description
The Geography Teacher plans and delivers engaging lessons that help students understand physical and human geography, map-reading skills, environmental issues, and global cultures. The teacher creates a positive learning environment, assesses student progress, and encourages students to develop analytical and research skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver geography lessons in accordance with the school curriculum.
- Teach topics such as physical geography, human geography, environmental studies, climate, natural resources, and global issues.
- Use maps, atlases, GIS tools, multimedia, and fieldwork to enhance learning.
- Assess, record, and report students' academic progress.
- Prepare lesson plans, assignments, quizzes, and examinations.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and environmental responsibility.
- Organize educational field trips, geography projects, and competitions where appropriate.
- Provide academic guidance and support to students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school administration to support student development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development programs, and school events.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred for some institutions).
- Teaching qualification/license as required by local education authorities.
- Previous teaching experience is preferred.
