Position Overview
Amity University Hyderabad invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Economics. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum development and departmental growth.
The ideal candidate should possess strong subject expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to academic excellence and research.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Delivery
- Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, seminars, and student mentoring sessions.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Economics.
- Develop course plans, lesson materials, assignments, and assessment strategies.
- Utilize modern teaching methodologies and technology-enabled learning tools.
- Conduct examinations, evaluations, and academic advising.

- Undertake high-quality research in relevant areas of Economics.

- Apply for externally funded research projects and consultancy assignments.
- Collaborate with industry, government agencies, and research institutions.
Student Engagement & Mentorship
- Guide students in projects, dissertations, internships, and career planning.
- Support student clubs, competitions, seminars, and outreach activities.
- Encourage interdisciplinary and applied research initiatives.
Institutional Responsibilities
- Participate in accreditation, ranking, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Contribute to curriculum design and revision.
- Support departmental and university administrative responsibilities.
- Participate in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, and academic events.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Economics from a recognized university.
- Candidates pursuing Ph.D. or those who have submitted their thesis may also apply.
- Master's Degree in Economics from a recognized university.
- Strong academic record throughout.
Preferred Qualifications
- NET/SET qualification as applicable under UGC norms.
- Publications in high-quality indexed journals.
- Experience in quantitative research and statistical software such as R, STATA, SPSS, Python, or EViews.
- Exposure to Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and digital learning platforms.
Desired Skills
- Strong conceptual and analytical understanding of Economics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Research-oriented mindset with publication potential.
- Ability to mentor students and supervise research projects.
- Proficiency in statistical and econometric tools.

Experience
- Fresh Ph.D. graduates and thesis-submitted candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Prior teaching, research, consulting, or industry experience in Economics will be preferred.
