Job Summary:
The Primary Resource Teacher (PRT) for English will be responsible for teaching English language and literature to students in primary grades. The role involves planning, delivering, and assessing English lessons, ensuring students develop strong communication, reading, writing, and comprehension skills in an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Delivery:
- Develop and implement lesson plans for English language and literature, adhering to the curriculum guidelines.
- Teach primary school students (Grades 1-5) foundational English skills, including speaking, reading, writing, listening, and grammar.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage students with different learning styles.
- Student Assessment & Progress Tracking:
- Assess students’ performance through quizzes, assignments, and class activities.
- Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding progress and areas of improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and development.
- Classroom Management:
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-organized classroom environment.
- Establish clear rules for behavior and ensure they are followed.
- Address any disciplinary issues promptly and effectively.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other teachers and staff to support the overall development of students.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development workshops.
- Collaborate with the school administration to ensure the smooth running of English-related programs.
- Curriculum Development & Enhancement:
- Suggest ideas for curriculum enhancements and improvements.
- Stay updated with the latest teaching methods and educational resources.
- Parental Involvement:
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress.
- Host parent-teacher meetings and provide guidance on how parents can support their child’s learning at home.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Attend school events, extracurricular activities, and staff meetings as required.
- Contribute to the development of a positive school culture.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, rules, and regulations.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (B.Ed preferred).
- Experience: Proven experience teaching English to primary school students (1-3 years preferred).
- Skills:
- Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work well with children and motivate them to succeed.
- Creative, enthusiastic, and adaptable teaching approach.
- Knowledge of current educational practices and methodologies.
