Role Overview
The Construction Procurement Engineer is responsible for end-to-end procurement of construction materials and services, ensuring timely availability, cost efficiency, quality compliance, and adherence to approved specifications and budgets. The role involves close coordination with project, design, stores, and finance teams.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Review BOQs, technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements to finalize procurement scope.
- Identify, evaluate, and empanel suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for construction materials and services.
- Float enquiries, collect quotations, and conduct detailed techno-commercial evaluations.
- Prepare comparative statements, evaluation sheets, and procurement recommendations.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and contractual conditions.
- Issue purchase orders/work orders as per approvals and company procurement procedures.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials as per project schedules.
- Ensure all procured materials comply with approved makes, samples, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with site, stores, and logistics teams for material receipt, inspection, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate procurement records including purchase orders, invoices, delivery challans, test certificates, and warranties.
- Support preparation of procurement budgets, cash flow projections, and cost estimates.
- Track material costs and highlight deviations from budgets.
- Suggest value engineering and cost-optimization options without compromising quality.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval matrices, and audit requirements.
Required Qualifications
Education
- B.E / B.Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in procurement within the construction, real estate, or contracting industry
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of construction materials, specifications, and approved makes
- Proficiency in BOQ analysis and rate comparison
- Knowledge of contract terms, commercial conditions, and vendor management
- Experience with ERP systems or procurement software
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and reporting tools
- Good negotiation, coordination, and communication skills
- Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple procurements simultaneously
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Range: ₹30,000 – ₹40,000 per month (can be subject to change as per expertise and interview discussion)
