Job Summary
The Primary Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate science lessons in accordance with the CBSE curriculum. The teacher fosters curiosity, critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and environmental awareness while creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver science lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum.
- Use activity-based, experiential, and inquiry-based teaching methodologies.
- Develop students' observation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Integrate real-life examples, experiments, and technology into classroom instruction.
- Encourage curiosity and a love for science through hands-on learning.
2. Curriculum Planning
- Prepare annual plans, lesson plans, and teaching-learning materials.
- Maintain continuity and progression in learning outcomes.
- Integrate interdisciplinary learning wherever appropriate.
3. Student Assessment
- Conduct formative and summative assessments as per CBSE guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Identify learning gaps and provide remedial support.
4. Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment.
- Ensure student safety during practical activities and demonstrations.
- Promote collaborative learning and respectful behavior.
5. Student Development
- Foster scientific temper, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
- Encourage participation in science exhibitions, quizzes, and school projects.
- Support the holistic development of every child.
6. Parent Communication
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events.
- Address academic concerns professionally and constructively.
7. Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in school meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching practices.
- Stay updated with CBSE guidelines and current educational trends.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Principal or Primary Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Science (B.Sc.) or equivalent.
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), as applicable.
- CTET or State TET qualification may be preferred or required, depending on school and regulatory requirements.
- Prior teaching experience in a CBSE or reputed school is desirable.
