Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead and manage end-to-end shop floor operations across Pre-Press, Press (Offset Printing), and Post-Press (Die Punching, Lamination, Corrugation, Folder Gluing) processes. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring on-time delivery, optimum machine utilization, quality compliance, and cost-efficient production while managing a multi-functional production team.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Execution
- Plan and schedule daily/weekly production across offset printing, die-cutting, lamination, corrugation, and folder-gluing sections to meet order deadlines.
- Coordinate with Pre-Press, Sales, and Dispatch teams to ensure smooth job flow from order confirmation to delivery.
- Monitor and optimize machine utilization on Mitsubishi 4-colour and 6-colour offset presses, Bobst die-cutters, folder gluers, and flute laminators.
- Ensure daily production targets (sheets printed, cartons manufactured) are met with minimal downtime.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Enforce quality control checkpoints at every production stage (pre-press, press, post-press) to maintain the company's defect-free production standards.
- Investigate and resolve production defects, print mismatches, or die-cutting/lamination issues; implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure adherence to FSC compliance norms and client-specific quality/packaging specifications.
Team & Shop Floor Management
- Supervise, guide, and manage machine operators, supervisors, and helpers across printing, corrugation, lamination, and finishing sections.
- Allocate manpower shift-wise to ensure optimum productivity and minimize idle time.
- Conduct training for operators on new machinery, safety protocols, and process improvements.
- Manage shift handovers and maintain discipline, attendance, and productivity records.
Machine & Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance schedules of key machinery (offset presses, die cutters, laminators, folder gluers) to minimize breakdowns.
- Monitor machine performance metrics and recommend upgrades or process improvements.
Material & Inventory Management
- Coordinate with the stores/procurement team for timely availability of raw materials (duplex board, FBB, kraft paper, inks, lamination film, adhesives).
- Minimize material wastage through efficient planning and process control.
- Monitor consumption patterns and support cost-control initiatives.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports (output, downtime, wastage, defect rates) for management review.
- Identify bottlenecks in the production process and drive continuous improvement (Lean/Kaizen practices) to enhance turnaround time.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and statutory/regulatory requirements on the shop floor.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of offset printing processes (4-colour/6-colour printing, UV coating, spot UV, aqueous coating).
- Hands-on understanding of post-press operations — die-punching, lamination (gloss/matte/velvet), corrugation (E/F/narrow flute), and folder-gluing.
- Working knowledge of paperboard/packaging substrates (Duplex Board, FBB, Kraft, GSM ranges).
- Strong production planning, scheduling, and capacity management skills.
- Team leadership and manpower management across multi-shift operations.
- Quality control mindset with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/production reporting tools; ERP exposure preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight delivery timelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or related field (Printing Technology preferred).
- Experience: 8–10 years in production/manufacturing roles within offset printing, carton/packaging, or corrugation industry, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial/leadership capacity.
- Prior experience working with Mitsubishi/Heidelberg offset presses and Bobst die-cutting/folder-gluing equipment is highly desirable.
- Experience managing multi-brand/high-volume carton production preferred.
