Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operator Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor ETP equipment such as pumps, blowers, filters, clarifiers, and dosing systems.
- Ensure proper treatment of industrial wastewater before discharge or reuse.
- Check pH, TDS, COD, BOD, turbidity, and other water quality parameters regularly.
- Maintain daily log sheets and operational records.
- Handle chemical dosing and preparation safely.
- Monitor sludge handling, drying, and disposal processes.
- Inspect pipelines, valves, motors, and electrical panels for proper functioning.
- Perform routine maintenance and coordinate with maintenance teams during breakdowns.
- Follow pollution control board norms and environmental safety standards.
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals and use PPE properly.
- Report abnormalities, leakages, or equipment failures to supervisors.
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness in the plant area.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant Operator Responsibilities
- Operate RO systems for water purification and treatment.
- Monitor pressure, flow rate, conductivity, and membrane performance.
- Start and stop pumps, filters, and RO units as per operating procedures.
- Conduct backwashing, membrane cleaning, and cartridge filter replacement.
- Test raw water and treated water quality periodically.
- Maintain records of water production, chemical consumption, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper chemical dosing for antiscalants and disinfectants.
- Identify and troubleshoot operational issues in RO systems.
- Maintain uninterrupted water supply and system efficiency.
- Follow safety procedures and company SOPs.
Common Skills Required
- Basic knowledge of water treatment processes.
- Understanding of pumps, motors, valves, and instrumentation.
- Ability to read gauges and operational parameters.
- Record-keeping and reporting skills.
- Awareness of safety and environmental regulations.
- Basic troubleshooting and maintenance knowledge.
Qualification (Typical)
- ITI / Diploma / B.Sc. Chemistry / Mechanical / Electrical / Environmental Engineering.
- Experience in ETP, STP, or RO plant operation preferred.
