Job Title: Commercial Lines Underwriter
Job Purpose:
To assess, evaluate, and underwrite retail insurance proposals for non-motor, non-health segments including property, fire, burglary, engineering, and miscellaneous lines. Ensuring Growth and risk selection aligns with company underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting & Risk Assessment
- Evaluate and underwrite proposals for property, fire, burglary, engineering, and other miscellaneous retail products.
- Analyze risk exposures, policy terms, and coverage requirements.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, pricing models, and regulatory norms.
Portfolio Management
- Monitor performance of underwritten risks and contribute to portfolio profitability.
- Identify trends and recommend corrective actions for adverse loss ratios.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support channel partners and intermediaries with technical underwriting inputs.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations and internal audit requirements.
Product Development & Innovation
- Provide feedback on product features and market trends.
- Collaborate with product teams to enhance offerings based on customer and market needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Fellowship/Associateship from III) preferred.
Experience:
- 3–6 years of underwriting experience in non-motor, non-health retail lines.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of underwriting tools and risk assessment techniques.
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
