Team: Strategic Marketing & Insights, Product & Portfolio Strategy
Location: Bangalore, Novo Nordisk Global Business Services (GBS), India
Lead the transformation of data and AI from a support function into a strategic force that shapes how we compete, decide, and deliver for patients worldwide.
Your new role
As Associate Director, Data Analytics & AI Strategy, you will define and execute the organisation's data, analytics, and AI agenda – turning complex information into the insights that drive commercial performance, portfolio decisions, and customer engagement. This is a role where strategic vision meets hands-on leadership: you will build advanced analytics capabilities, champion AI-driven innovation, and partner directly with senior leaders to influence enterprise-wide decision-making.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Defining and driving a business-aligned Data, Analytics & AI strategy and multi-year capability roadmap, advising senior leadership on transformation opportunities while embedding an AI-first, data-driven culture across the organisation
- Translating strategic business priorities into analytical frameworks and predictive models that deliver measurable impact across brand strategy, portfolio planning, customer engagement, market access, forecasting, and competitive intelligence
- Building and leading a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of data scientists, AI specialists, analytics professionals, and business insight experts through hiring, coaching, upskilling, and succession planning
- Establishing data governance frameworks, quality standards, and compliance requirements while partnering with Digital, Data & IT teams to ensure scalable architecture and responsible AI practices
- Identifying, prioritising, and deploying AI/ML use cases – including generative and agentic AI – that create measurable business value and improve decision quality
- Building partnerships with technology vendors, analytics partners, and industry experts while continuously scanning emerging trends in AI, healthcare analytics, and digital transformation
- Fostering a team culture rooted in psychological safety, cross-functional collaboration, inclusivity, and shared accountability – where experimentation is encouraged and lessons from failure drive improvement
Your new department
In Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas. We act as a connector and compass, guiding the new Novo Nordisk portfolio for sustained competitiveness upstream, and maximising portfolio potential through successful commercial strategies and competitive launches downstream.
You will join Strategic Marketing & Insights at P&PS GBS, where we drive commercial strategy, medical communications, congress excellence, and evidence generation across our key therapy areas – Diabetes, Obesity, and Rare Diseases. The team works closely with partners in Denmark, the US, and Zurich, interfacing upstream with R&D and Product Supply, and downstream with Regions and affiliates. In this role, you will elevate the function's strategic influence and build the capabilities that keep Novo Nordisk at the forefront of data-driven decision-making.
Your skills & qualifications
We are looking for a strategic leader who combines deep technical expertise with commercial acumen and the ability to inspire high-performing teams in a complex, global environment. You will bring:
- Master's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field; focus on data analytics and AI in life sciences or pharmaceuticals is an advantage
- 12+ years' experience in Data Science, Analytics, AI, Commercial Excellence, or Strategy, with pharma or life sciences domain experience preferred
- 5+ years of leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams, with a proven ability to influence senior executives and drive transformation programmes
- Strong technical fluency across advanced analytics, data engineering, predictive modelling, machine learning, AI (including generative and agentic AI), and business intelligence/visualisation
- Demonstrated track record working in global and/or regional environments, with the ability to navigate cross-functional and matrix structures, mobilise stakeholders, and make decisions under ambiguity
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with excellent communication and relationship management skills
