Job Summary
The In-Process Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that machined components conform to customer drawings, process requirements, and quality standards during production. The role focuses on preventing defects at the source by conducting first-off, patrol, and in-process inspections while working closely with CNC/VMC operators, setters, and production engineers.
Key ResponsibilitiesFirst-Off Inspection
- Perform first-off inspection before batch production begins.
- Verify all critical dimensions against approved drawings.
- Approve machine setup before releasing production.
- Ensure the correct revision drawing and inspection plan are used.
In-Process Inspection
- Conduct periodic patrol inspections as per the control plan.
- Measure critical and special characteristics during machining.
- Verify tool wear compensation and dimensional consistency.
- Ensure operators follow inspection frequency and work instructions.
- Monitor SPC charts and process capability where applicable.
Production Support
- Immediately stop production if non-conforming parts are identified.
- Segregate and identify rejected material.
- Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Coordinate with Production, CNC Programmers, and Quality Engineers to resolve issues.
- Verify corrective actions before restarting production.
Process Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Control Plans, SOPs, and Inspection Plans.
- Verify job setup, fixtures, cutting tools, and gauges before production.
- Ensure traceability of components throughout manufacturing.
- Monitor adherence to AS9100D and ISO 13485 quality requirements.
Documentation
- Maintain in-process inspection records.
- Record dimensional inspection results accurately.
- Update rejection and rework reports.
- Maintain calibration status of measuring instruments.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring quality issues and suggest preventive actions.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, Kaizen, and 5S activities.
- Work with production teams to reduce rejection and improve process capability.

Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- 1+ Years in precision machining.
- Experience with CNC Turning and VMC machining.
- Aerospace, Medical Device, Defence, or Precision Engineering experience preferred.
