Gamma Marine is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanical Technician for a New Vessel Construction Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment onboard newly constructed vessels.
Key Responsibilities
· Install mechanical and electrical machinery onboard new construction vessels.
· Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and installation instructions.
· Carry out equipment installation, system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and functional checks.
· Install and integrate deck machinery, propulsion systems, electrical motors, bridge equipment, and control panels.
· Perform system integration and ensure the proper functioning of all installed equipment.
· Supervise the hull construction of wooden and FRP boats to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with project specifications.
· Diagnose faults in deck and propulsion machinery and perform maintenance and repairs as required.
· Coordinate with vendors and contractors during equipment installation and project execution.
Desired Background
· 10–15 years of relevant experience in marine or shipbuilding projects.
· Experience in the installation and commissioning of:
o Electrical equipment
o Batteries and battery systems
o Propulsion machinery
o Shafting systems
o Rudders and propellers
o Gearboxes
o Capstans and winches
o Pumps and steering systems
o Other shipboard mechanical equipment
· Experience in vendor coordination, contractor management, procurement support, and project execution.
· Retired POME personnel from the Indian Navy with relevant experience will be given preference.
Qualification
· Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related trade.
