Job Title: Senior Manager – Production (Coco Peat Industry)
Job Summary
The Senior Manager – Production is responsible for leading the end-to-end manufacturing operations of the coco peat production plant. The role ensures achievement of production targets, product quality, cost optimization, safety compliance, manpower productivity, and continuous process improvement while meeting customer and export quality requirements. Responsibilities typically include production planning, resource optimization, quality coordination, maintenance planning, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead overall production operations for coco peat blocks, grow bags, loose coco peat, coco chips, and related products.
2. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans to meet customer and export schedules.
3. Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, and raw materials.
4. Monitor production efficiency, productivity, and machine utilization.
5. Ensure compliance with quality standards including EC, pH, moisture, compression ratio, and contamination control.
6. Coordinate with Procurement, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and Dispatch departments for uninterrupted production.
7. Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
8. Monitor production costs and implement waste reduction measures.
9. Review daily production reports, downtime analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
10. Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed to minimize breakdowns.
11. Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for production issues.
12. Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
13. Develop SOPs, work instructions, and production process improvements.
14. Train, mentor, and evaluate Production Managers, Shift In-charges, Supervisors, and Operators.
15. Drive employee engagement, discipline, and performance management on the shop floor.
16. Support customer audits, internal audits, and certification requirements.
17. Monitor inventory of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
18. Prepare monthly MIS reports and present production performance to management.
19. Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization.
20. Achieve production targets while maintaining quality, cost, delivery, and safety objectives.
Educational Qualification
· B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline.
· MBA (Operations) is an added advantage.
Experience
· 12–18 years of experience in manufacturing.
· Minimum 5 years in a leadership role.
· Experience in Coco Peat, Coir, Agro-processing, Export Manufacturing, or Horticultural Substrates is preferred.
