Role Overview
MIPL is looking for a QA/QC & Manufacturing Engineer to manage manufacturing quality, inspection, assembly processes and vendor quality for our Robotics, Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), Defence Systems and Industrial Automation projects.
The engineer will work closely with the Mechanical Design, Procurement, Project and Assembly teams to ensure that manufactured components and assemblies meet drawings, tolerances, specifications and functional requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing & Production
* Plan and coordinate manufacturing of mechanical components and assemblies.
* Understand manufacturing drawings, GD&T, tolerances, fits and surface finish requirements.
* Coordinate machining processes including CNC/VMC, turning, milling, drilling, grinding, laser cutting, bending and fabrication.
* Supervise fabrication, welding, machining, assembly and finishing activities.
* Determine suitable manufacturing processes for components based on drawings, material and tolerance requirements.
* Coordinate with external vendors for machining, fabrication, sheet-metal and surface-treatment activities.
* Monitor manufacturing schedules and ensure components are completed as per project timelines.
* Identify manufacturing issues and coordinate with the design team for corrective modifications.
* Support assembly, integration and prototype development of robotic and electromechanical systems.
2. QA/QC & Inspection
* Perform Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) and Final Quality Control (FQC).
* Inspect machined, fabricated and sheet-metal components against engineering drawings.
* Verify dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, material specifications and surface finish.
* Inspect bought-out mechanical components and assemblies.
* Use inspection instruments including:
* Vernier Caliper
* Micrometer
* Height Gauge
* Bore Gauge
* Dial Indicator
* Thread Gauges
* Surface Plate
* Measuring Tape and other precision instruments
* Prepare and maintain inspection reports and quality documentation.
* Identify and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
* Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
* Ensure rejected components are properly segregated, reworked or replaced.
3. Drawing & GD&T Knowledge
Candidate should have strong understanding of:
* Engineering drawings
* Manufacturing drawings
* GD&T
* Dimensional tolerances
* Fits and clearances
* Surface finish
* Welding symbols
* Machining symbols
* Material specifications
* Assembly drawings
* BOMs
Should be able to independently determine whether a manufactured component conforms to the drawing.
4. Vendor Quality & Development
* Inspect components manufactured by external vendors.
* Conduct vendor quality checks before accepting material.
* Work with vendors to resolve manufacturing and quality problems.
* Develop vendors for CNC machining, fabrication, sheet metal, welding and surface treatment.
* Track vendor rejection and rework.
* Support Procurement in technically evaluating new manufacturing vendors.
* Conduct vendor visits when required for inspection and production follow-up.
5. Assembly & System Quality
* Inspect mechanical assemblies before integration.
* Verify alignment, fitment, fasteners, bearings, shafts, motors, gearboxes and mechanical interfaces.
* Ensure proper assembly practices including tightening, lubrication, locking and alignment.
* Conduct visual, dimensional and functional inspection of assemblies.
* Support testing of robotic systems, SPMs and electromechanical mechanisms.
* Identify recurring assembly/manufacturing problems and implement permanent corrective actions.
6. Quality Documentation
Maintain documentation including:
* Incoming Inspection Reports
* In-Process Inspection Reports
* Final Inspection Reports
* NCRs
* CAPA Reports
* Material Test Certificates (MTC)
* Calibration Records
* Vendor Quality Records
* Inspection Checklists
* Manufacturing/Assembly Checklists
* Quality Plans
* Project-wise quality documentation

The candidate should be hands-on and shop-floor oriented, rather than someone whose experience is limited to quality documentation.
Pay: ₹360,000.00 - ₹750,000.00 per year
