Role Description The Lead Financial Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing quantitative models that support UrbanOrbIQ’s financial products and decision-making frameworks. Day-to-day tasks include developing and validating financial engineering models, performing quantitative analysis on large data sets, and building tools to evaluate risk, pricing, and portfolio performance. The role involves collaborating with product, technology, and business teams to translate complex financial concepts into practical solutions and to refine model assumptions based on market feedback. The Lead Financial Engineer will also document methodologies, present insights to stakeholders, and help guide junior team members in best practices. This is a remote, contract role based in Mumba/Bangalore/Kolkata, also covertible to co founder and full time.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Financial Engineering and Quantitative Finance, with experience applying these skills to real-world problems.
- Advanced Quantitative Analytics and Analytical Skills, including proficiency in statistical methods, modeling, and data interpretation.
- Solid understanding of Finance, capital markets, and financial instruments, with the ability to connect theory to practical applications.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in quantitative finance (such as Python, R, or MATLAB) and experience with data analysis libraries and tools.
- Relevant academic background, such as a degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in model validation, back-testing, and documentation; prior exposure to startup or innovation-driven environments is an advantage.
