Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Technician to support mechanical and automotive testing activities in our laboratory. The candidate will be responsible for operating test equipment, conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing test data, maintaining laboratory instruments, and ensuring smooth execution of testing and validation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Testing & Validation
Assist in conducting mechanical and automotive component testing as per test procedures.
Set up and operate testing equipment, instruments, and data acquisition systems.
Support performance, endurance, reliability, and functional testing activities.
Record, monitor, and document test results accurately.
Laboratory Operations
Prepare test samples, fixtures, and equipment before testing.
Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, instruments, and test components.
Support calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Equipment Maintenance
Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of test rigs and laboratory instruments.
Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs when required.
Maintain equipment maintenance records and calibration logs.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare test reports and maintain laboratory records.
Update testing data, observations, and findings in designated formats.
Assist engineers in analyzing test results and preparing technical documentation.
Safety & Compliance
Follow laboratory safety procedures and company policies.
Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during testing activities.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and testing protocols.
Qualification
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Additional certification in testing, instrumentation, or automotive systems will be an advantage.
Required Skills
Good understanding of mechanical and automotive systems.
Knowledge of testing equipment, measurement tools, and laboratory practices.
Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents.
Familiarity with measuring instruments such as:
Vernier Caliper
Micrometer
Dial Gauge
Torque Wrench
Multimeter
Basic knowledge of MS Excel and report preparation.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Experience
3-4 years Experience in automotive component testing, engine testing, EV systems, or mechanical validation labs.
Exposure to instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
Experience working with testing rigs, dynamometers, or validation equipment will be an added advantage.
