Job Summary
The Technician is responsible for carrying out inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of Tata Motors commercial vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards. The role focuses on delivering quality repairs, minimizing vehicle turnaround time, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining workshop safety and productivity.
Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Inspection & Diagnosis
- Perform vehicle inspection upon job allocation.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment.
- Identify root causes of vehicle issues and recommend appropriate repairs.
- Prepare accurate repair estimates and report additional work required.
Repair & Maintenance
- Carry out preventive maintenance services (PMS) as per Tata Motors guidelines.
- Repair engines, transmission systems, clutches, gearboxes, axles, steering, suspension, brakes, and driveline components.
- Perform electrical and electronic repairs including wiring, sensors, ECUs, alternators, starters, and lighting systems.
- Attend breakdown vehicles and emergency repairs when assigned.
- Conduct warranty repairs following Tata Motors procedures.
- Ensure repairs are completed within standard labor time.
Quality Assurance
- Follow Tata Motors repair manuals and service procedures.
- Perform quality checks before vehicle delivery.
- Conduct road tests where applicable to verify repairs.
- Ensure zero repeat complaints due to workmanship.
Workshop Operations
- Maintain cleanliness of the work bay and workshop equipment.
- Properly use and maintain workshop tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Record job completion details accurately in the workshop management system.
- Report tool damage or equipment malfunction immediately.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all workshop safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Adhere to environmental guidelines for handling oils, lubricants, batteries, and hazardous waste.
- Ensure compliance with Tata Motors dealership standards and company policies.
- Participate in safety meetings and technical training programs.
Customer Support
- Assist Service Advisors in explaining technical issues when required.
- Support customer vehicle inspections if requested.
- Maintain professional behavior while interacting with customers.
Required Qualifications
- ITI (Motor Mechanic Vehicle/Diesel Mechanic/Automobile) or Diploma in Automobile/Mechanical Engineering.
- Tata Motors technical certification is preferred.
Experience
- Technician: 1–3 years in commercial vehicle service.
- Senior Technician: 3–6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in Tata Motors commercial vehicles is preferred.

Pay: ₹13,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
