Job Summary
A Dermatologist is a licensed medical specialist responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases and conditions affecting the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. The role involves providing medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatological care while ensuring high standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
- Examine patients to diagnose skin, hair, and nail disorders.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for acute and chronic dermatological conditions.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as skin biopsies and laboratory evaluations.
- Conduct minor surgical procedures, including lesion excisions, cyst removal, and cryotherapy.
- Diagnose and manage skin cancers and perform appropriate treatments or referrals.
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Provide cosmetic dermatology services such as chemical peels, laser treatments, botulinum toxin injections, and dermal fillers, where applicable.
- Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and post-treatment care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records.
- Collaborate with primary care physicians and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to clinical protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing medical education.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree (or equivalent).
- Completion of an accredited residency in Dermatology.
- Valid medical license to practice.
