Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Commis I specializing in Indian cuisine to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, ingredients, and food safety standards, and will assist in preparing high-quality dishes while maintaining kitchen efficiency and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Indian dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Assist Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations.
- Ensure proper preparation and storage of ingredients, sauces, marinades, and mise en place.
- Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to supervisors.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is used and maintained properly.
- Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Support team members during busy service periods.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in Indian cuisine, preferably in hotels, restaurants, or catering operations.
- Good knowledge of North Indian and/or South Indian cooking techniques.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Culinary certification or relevant hospitality qualification preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with tandoor, curry preparation, and Indian gravies.
- Knowledge of inventory control and kitchen operations.
- Ability to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
