Purpose
Supervise daily on-site activities to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality completion of construction/interior projects. Act as the main on-site point of contact between management, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise daily site operations, including labor, subcontractors, materials, and equipment.
- Implement project plans and drawings on site, ensuring work follows specifications, quality standards, and scope.
- Monitor progress against schedule; report delays and propose corrective actions.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental rules; carry out toolbox talks and maintain safety records.
- Coordinate deliveries and material storage; check materials received for quantity and quality.
- Read and interpret drawings, BOQ, and technical specifications; mark up site instructions as needed.
- Carry out regular site inspections and quality checks; raise and follow up on non-conformances.
- Maintain daily logbooks, attendance, progress reports, and site photographs.
- Liaise with project manager/contracting office to resolve technical issues and obtain approvals.
- Supervise finishing works, snagging, and handover activities; ensure punch-list items are completed.
- Train and mentor junior staff, laborers, and apprentices; manage on-site workforce productivity.
- Ensure compliance with local building regulations, permits, and statutory requirements.
Required skills and qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field; trade experience accepted for strong candidates.
- 2+ years of on-site supervisory experience (interiors, residential or commercial construction preferred).
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, finishes, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and BOQs.
- Good communication and coordination skills; able to manage subcontractors and labour teams.
- Practical problem-solving skills and ability to make on-site decisions.
- Basic computer skills for progress reporting, email, and mobile apps (WhatsApp/Excel).
- Awareness of safety practices and ability to enforce them.
Desirable
- Experience with interior finishes (plaster, drywall, tiling, carpentry, painting, false ceilings).
- Familiarity with local contractors, suppliers, and regulatory processes in Kolkata/West Bengal.
- Basic knowledge of project costing and material quantity checks.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
